Frequently Asked Questions

Please reach us at Wheatensontheriver@gmail.com if you cannot find an answer to your question.

Our puppies are $2,400. This includes age-appropriate veterinary care, a written contract, a one-year health guarantee, microchip, ACA papers, and ongoing breeder support. Pricing reflects the level of care, planning, and responsibility that goes into our breeding program.

We are located in Central Wisconsin.

No. Puppies are placed through in-person pickup only. We believe meeting families in person is an important part of ensuring successful placements and smooth transitions for our puppies.

We do not accept deposits until puppies are born. Deposits are only accepted after an application has been approved and a puppy placement is offered.

Puppy placement is by approved application only. Interested families complete a puppy application, which we review carefully. Approved applicants are contacted once puppies are born and ready for placement. Submitting an application does not guarantee placement.

If you are interested in being considered for a puppy from our program, please complete our puppy application for review. It is available on our Home page.

Puppy placement is based on approved applications and thoughtful matching. Our goal is to place each puppy in the home that best suits their temperament and needs.

Approved families who have submitted a deposit are invited to visit in person or participate in a video conference when the puppies are approximately six weeks old. Puppy selection is determined by the order in which deposits are received and the family’s preferred sex, while always keeping the best interest of each puppy in mind.

Puppies typically go home when they are at least 8 weeks of age. This allows time for proper development, early socialization, and veterinary care before transitioning to their new homes.

No. Our puppies are raised in a home environment with hands-on care, daily interaction, and early socialization. They are introduced to normal household sights, sounds, and routines from an early age.

Yes. All puppies go home with a written contract and a one-year health guarantee. Details are provided as part of the adoption contract.

Our breeding dogs are selected carefully for health, temperament, and overall suitability. We follow responsible breeding practices and prioritize producing healthy, well-balanced companions.

Wheatens are typically affectionate, people-oriented dogs that do well in family environments. They thrive when included as part of daily life and benefit from consistent training and structure.

Wheatens have a single coat and do not shed in the traditional sense. However, their coat requires regular grooming and maintenance to prevent matting.

Owners should expect routine brushing at home and regular professional grooming. Grooming is an important and ongoing commitment with this breed.

Yes. Puppies are placed as companion animals only and are required to be spayed or neutered according to the terms outlined in our contract.

If at any point a family can no longer keep one of our dogs, we require that the dog be returned to us or that we assist with rehoming. This is outlined in our contract and helps ensure the lifelong well-being of our dogs. No refund will be given in these cases.
